Maruti is working on a new SUV crossover based on its popular Baleno hachback that will come out in the future. The upcoming 2023 Maruti Baleno SUV Cross appears to be a close successor to the S-Cross. The latest spied pictures of the Baleno SUV Cross appear to be including a unique sloping roof.

As consumers’ tastes shift toward compact SUVs, Maruti wants to increase its share in this sector by expanding its portfolio. Since the newly launched Maruti Grand Vitara is receiving a huge number of pre-orders, the Baleno SUV Cross will act as an affordable alternative.

2023 Maruti Baleno SUV Cross details

Exploring Wheels, a YouTube channel, has uploaded a video of a 2023 Maruti Baleno SUV Cross testing off-road with a Haryana registration plate and all camouflaged. Some part of the design appears to be inherited from Grand Vitara while it also somewhat resembles with Futuro e-concept shown previously at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The upcoming Baleno SUV Cross will sport chrome highlighted front grilles, high-raised LED DRLs, and low-set headlamps. The compact profile manages to provide a sufficient height and width for optimum headroom. On the back, it will feature a boot-lid integrated spoiler and a chunky bumper. It will run on sporty alloy wheels with wheel arches in square shape and dark body cladding.

It’s too early to guess the powertrain options attached to Baleno SUV Cross, the car is anticipated to be powered by a 1.0L BoosterJet turbo petrol mill. The transmission options should include both manual and automatic gearboxes.

Maruti Suzuki is expected to price the Baleno SUV Cross above its other Brezza SUV to seek the interest of compact SUV buyers. Also, we could expect Glanza Cross SUV based on the same platform similar to Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder twins, thanks to the Maruti-Toyota partnership.
