May 2025 will be an electrifying month for Indian automotive enthusiasts with a cascade of highly-anticipated vehicle launches. From the much-awaited long-range version of the MG Windsor EV, the Kia Carens upgrade, the new Tata Altroz, and Volkswagen’s hot hatch debut in India, this month promises a diverse and exciting array of new offerings.
MG Windsor Pro (Long Range)
Release Date: May 6, 2025
The first car launch of May 2025 is the MG Windsor Pro, a long-range variant of the popular electric crossover utility vehicle (CUV). While the car will retain the look and feel of the current model, it will feature a larger battery, a 50.6 kWh battery pack, which is a significant upgrade over the 38 kWh battery on the vanilla model.
The larger battery pack will boost the claimed range of the Windsor Pro to 460 kilometers. Interestingly, the battery will power the familiar electric motor that produces 134 bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of torque. In addition to the new battery, the Windsor Pro will also feature Level 2 ADAS features, including adaptive cruise control. The vehicle will also offer vehicle-to-load technology.
The MG Windsor Pro will also have a few cosmetic changes, including a new cabin with black/beige leather upholstery, new alloy wheels, and the variant’s “Pro” badging to distinguish it from the regular model. Although there’s no word on the vehicle’s pricing, it will cost more than the regular model, which starts at Rs. 14 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Kia Clavis
Release Date: May 8, 2025
After the MG Windsor Pro EV, the Indian automobile market will witness the arrival of the Kia Clavis, the upgraded version of the Carens MPV. As seen in the teasers, the Clavis has a new front fascia with three-pod projector headlamps (LED) and LED DRLs (which resemble the Kia EV 6).
Kia has equipped the MPV with skid plates on the front/rear to give it an aggressive look. On the rear, the Clavis offers connected LED taillights (with an illuminated bar. Although the cabin design is under wraps, the vehicle is expected to provide a clean and minimal interior layout, similar to what we’ve seen on the Kia Syros.
Additional features of the Kia Clavis include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone auto AC, and a ventilated/powered co-driver seat with boss mode. Like the Carens, the upcoming seven-seater should also offer three engine options: 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated petrol, 1.5-liter turbo-petrol, and 1.5-liter diesel, offering various transmission options.
Regarding price, the Kia Clavis will command a premium over the Carens. Ahead of its official debut on May 8, 2025, some Kia dealerships are already taking bookings for the vehicle. It is worth mentioning that the Kia Carens will remain on sale alongside the new Clavis.

2025 Tata Altroz
Release Date: May 22, 2025
While no known launches are scheduled for mid-month, the Indian automaker Tata Motors will reveal the 2025 Altroz facelift on May 22, 2025. The facelifted vehicle will come with plenty of additions, including redesigned front/rear bumpers (for a sleeker look), new alloy wheels, and, for the first time in the segment, integrated door handles.
On the inside, the 2025 Tata Altroz will feature a completely redesigned cabin, including a new instrument cluster, the two-spoke illuminated steering wheel seen on Nexon, and dual-tone interiors. Additional features on the top-specced variant can include automatic climate control, dual digital screens, a 360-degree camera, and an electric sunroof.
When it comes to powertrain options, the new Altroz should retain the two engines from the current-generation model: a 1.2-liter REvotron petrol (with or without CNG) and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. The vehicle could be priced either similar to or slightly higher than the current Altroz.
Volkswagen Golf GTi

Release Date: May (expected)
Next up on the list of the most-anticipated car launches in May 2025 is the Volkswagen Golf GTi, the second-only GTi variant in India (after the Polo GTi). Strictly for performance enthusiasts, the hot hatch will offer tremendous power with its 2-liter turbo-petrol engine (265 PS of peak power and 370 Nm of peak torque).
The capable engine will power the front-wheel-drive vehicle via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT) transmission. It goes without saying that the combination of a powerful turbo-petrol engine, a DCT transmission, and Volkswagen’s excellent driving dynamics will make the Golf GTi one of the most engaging driving experiences in its class.
Since Volkswagen will sell the car as a direct import, it will command a premium price tag (expected to be around Rs. 50 lakhs ex-showroom).

Expected to arrive sometime in May, the MG Cyberster will be the first of its kind, an electric convertible sports car in India. Powering the EV could be a 77 kWh battery pack mated with an all-wheel-drive configuration with two motors (that peak at 510 hp of power and 725 Nm of torque).
Based on rumors, the MG Cyberster could start from around Rs. 70 lakhs (ex-showroom) in India.
