Why Is UIDAI Increasing The Fee For Aadhaar Revision?

The reason behind the increase in service charges is attributed to the maintenance of the technological system that stores and facilitates the data of over a billion residents in the country. The hike will cover the rise in administrative costs and compensate registrars who handle enrolments. It is worth noting that this is the first increase in over five years, and it will affect millions of residents in the country, who may need to update the details on their Aadhaar card.

Aadhaar Revision: Old vs. New Fee

The revised fee structure took effect on October 1, 2025, and will remain in place until September 30, 2028, a period of three years. Previously, the fee for revisions to biometric details or general updates was Rs. 100, while the fee for demographic updates or document submissions was Rs. 50. Below is the list of services that now attract a higher service fee.
