Acer has primarily been recognized for its laptops and computer accessories until now. However, the brand is now entering the smartphone market in India with the launch of two devices: the Acer SuperZX and Acer SuperZX Pro. Priced starting at Rs. 9999, the Acer Super ZX signifies the brand’s foray into the highly competitive budget segment in the country. On paper, it boasts a Dimensity 6300 chipset, a 64MP camera, a 5000mAh battery, Clean Android 15 OS, and standard features such as a headphone jack. These specifications present a compelling case for the smartphone from a technical standpoint, but does the Acer SuperZX possess the capability to stand out in India’s crowded budget smartphone market? Let’s explore this further.

Acer SuperZX Review: Design and Build
Acer has opted for a straightforward and distinct design approach compared to most smartphones in its category. The Acer Super ZX features a sleek and contemporary back panel design, eschewing flashy colors to avoid drawing attention. It is available in Carbon Black, Lunar Blue, and Cosmic Green, and I received the black version, which appears premium at a price of only Rs. 9999. The device measures 8.6mm in thickness and weighs 200 grams, giving it a somewhat hefty feel in hand; however, the weight distribution is balanced, allowing for one-handed use.
The back panel of the device features a prominent circular camera module positioned at the top center, housing three sensors for photography. The remainder of the rear panel displays Acer branding in silver and features a matte finish that reflects light beautifully from certain angles while effectively resisting smudges and fingerprints.
The edges are rounded, and overall, the device feels premium when held. Although it may be constructed from plastic, Acer has ensured a robust build and design for a 10k smartphone. It never comes across as cheap or inferior in appearance or tactile experience. At first glance, it can easily be mistaken for a more expensive smartphone.

Talking about functionality, here’s what Acer Super ZX features-
- Right edge- power button, volume rockers
- Left edge- SIM tray
- Bottom edge- USB-C port, speaker grille, 3.5mm headphone jack, primary microphone
- Top edge- speaker grille, secondary microphone
Smartphone | Thickness | Weight |
Acer Super ZX | 8.6mm | 200 grams |
Itel A95 | 7.8mm | 188 grams |
POCO M7 | 8.22mm | 205.39 grams |
Overall, I have almost no complaints about the design and build of the Super ZX smartphone except for its slight bulkiness.
Acer SuperZX Review: Display
The Acer Super ZX features a large 6.78-inch LCD display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2460x1080p. This display is quite impressive for a device priced around 10k, and the FHD+ resolution helps it stand out from its rivals. The visuals are sharp, bright, and immersive, with very good viewing angles. This enhances the content consumption experience, although it doesn’t quite match the quality of AMOLED panels. Noticeable bezels are measuring between 2-4mm around the screen, and the chin is relatively thick; however, this is a common characteristic at this price range, so it’s not a major drawback.
The smartphone offers a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which is uncommon at this price range. You have the option to select from Auto, 120Hz, and 60Hz settings, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that most apps operated at 120Hz when I chose that setting. Applications such as YouTube, YouTube Music, Gemini, and others consistently functioned at 120Hz.
Regarding scrolling and gaming, the device performs smoothly; however, I experienced significant lag when attempting to take three-finger screenshots. At times, I had to swipe 2-3 times to capture a screenshot, which was quite frustrating. I hope this issue gets resolved in future updates.
Another crucial factor regarding the display is its outdoor brightness. Acer claims a maximum brightness of 800 nits, which seems sufficient for indoor use; however, even at its peak, it struggles in outdoor conditions, particularly in direct sunlight. The actual maximum brightness is about 420 nits, which may seem acceptable given its price point, but it does present a limitation when using the device outside. While it may not be a dealbreaker, it certainly is a disadvantage.
The display is limited to SDR content and does not support HDR. There has been no official confirmation regarding the use of Gorilla Glass protection, but the curved edges of the frame enhance its ergonomic feel in the hand. Overall, the display of the Acer Super ZX Smartphone presents a mixed experience.
Smartphone | Display | Brightness |
Acer Super ZX | 6.78-inch FHD+ 120Hz | 800 nits |
Itel A95 | 6.67-inch IPS LCD | 480 nits |
Poco M7 | 6.88-inch HD+ 120Hz | 600 nits |
Acer SuperZX Review: Speakers and Haptics
Acer has outfitted the Super ZX with dual stereo speakers located at both the top and bottom edges. These speakers deliver a powerful sound and provide a satisfactory experience during social media browsing and gaming. The audio quality is clear and well-balanced, exhibiting minimal distortion even at elevated volume levels, which is uncommon in this category.
Regarding haptic feedback, it uses conventional vibration motors since there is no reference to any alternative haptic motor feedback. The haptic sensations are more perceptible than audible, providing a satisfactory experience during typing or gaming.
Smartphone | Speaker setup | Haptics motor |
Acer Super ZX | Dual stereo speakers | Standard motor |
Itel A95 | Single mono speaker | Standard ERM motor |
POCO M7 | Single bottom firing speaker | Standard ERM Motor |
Acer SuperZX Review: Software
The Acer Super ZX comes pre-installed with Android 15, utilizing Acer OS 15. Acer provides a user interface that closely resembles stock Android, ensuring a streamlined experience. Unfortunately, Acer has not disclosed the exact number of operating system (OS) and security updates. It is anticipated that the device will receive 2 OS updates and 3 security patches, but don’t take our word for it.
The user interface, though, is responsive, fluid, and user-friendly, although it appears somewhat outdated. A significant advantage of this software is its minimal bloatware, featuring only 33 pre-installed applications, the majority of which are practical.
Acer is providing additional features that are quite useful. A convenient sidebar is available, which contains several quick tools. You can swipe right to navigate through quick apps, contacts, a stopwatch, a flashlight, a compass, and a ruler.
Overall, the software experience stands out as one of the key features of the Acer Super ZX smartphone, providing a clean, clutter-free, and user-friendly interface. The sole drawback is the absence of AI capabilities, which have become standard in today’s market, even under Rs. 10,000, like with the Infinix Note 50X.
Smartphone | Pre-installed apps | Updates |
Acer Super ZX | 33 | Not announced |
Itel A95 | 45 | 2 security updates |
Poco M7 | 63 | 2 OS updates & 4 security updates |
Acer SuperZX Review: Biometrics
The Acer SuperZX features a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button on the side. This sensor is both fast and precise, and its convenient location enhances usability. Additionally, the smartphone offers 2D face unlock functionality, utilizing a 13MP front camera that performs effectively. Considering the device’s price of just Rs. 9999, the biometric options are fine.
Acer SuperZX Review: Performance
Beneath its exterior, the Acer SuperZX is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC, which is a decent chip for the price but not the best that you can get. Acer provides the Super ZX in models featuring 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, along with internal storage options of up to 128GB (UFS 3.1). It is complemented by the Mali-G615 GPU.
This phone also includes 8GB of Virtual RAM, enabling it to manage multitasking and resource-intensive applications effortlessly. The smartphone ensures a smooth and dependable performance for daily use, effectively handling routine tasks without any noticeable lag or interruptions.
When it comes to gaming, this budget smartphone does not meet expectations. It supports smooth casual gaming for games such as Candy Crush Saga, Goods Sort, Township, Tile Match, Ludo King, Temple Run 2, Subway Surfers, and Toy Factory. However, for games like Asphalt 9, BGMI Mobile, or COD Mobile, it’s advisable to keep your expectations in check. While COD and BGMI can be played, they require lower graphics settings and may experience lag after some time. The benchmark test results are summarized below-
Smartphone | Geekbench single core | Geekbench multicore | AnTuTu | CPU Throttle | Geekbench GPU OpenCL score |
Acer Super ZX | 719 | 1928 | 419544 | 73% | 1395 |
Itel A95 | 726 | 1950 | 408889 | 67% | 2511 |
Poco M7 | 950 | 2276 | 486435 | 53% | 2939 |

Additional features include the ability to lift the device to wake it, lift it to the ear to answer calls, a one-handed mode, cloned applications, and more. My experience with the Super ZX during calls was satisfactory. Whether in an underground parking area or crowded elevators, the signal reception was adequate. The thermal performance is average, as the device tends to become slightly warm when running benchmarks or using the camera for extended periods.
In totality, the performance of Acer Super ZX is apt for those users who want a clean, fast, and reliable smartphone for daily usage.
Acer SuperZX Review: Cameras
The Acer Super ZX is equipped with a triple-lens configuration on the rear. Yes, you read right—a smartphone priced at 10K boasts three camera sensors on its back (only one of them is actually usable though). This setup features a 64MP primary camera, along with 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensors. For selfies and video calls, there is a 13MP camera located on the front. While the specifications of the camera system appear impressive, the question remains: how does it perform in real-world usage? Let’s explore.
Daylight photography
The 64MP primary sensor captures impressive and appealing images in daylight. The colors are vivid and appear natural, resulting in an overall decent photograph. These images are suitable for sharing on social media or preserving in a gallery as memories. The daylight photographs are sharp, well-balanced, and rich in detail, with the autofocus operating swiftly and the shutter response being quick. The main camera is capable of handling various types of shots during the day. Additionally, there is up to 2x sensor zoom available.

Lowlight photography
When lighting conditions are poor, the output is affected. The images lose detail and take on a grainy appearance. At times, the photos may also seem washed out. The Night Mode allows you to click better photos at night if you possess strong photography skills or have access to an external light source. This is not particularly surprising, as budget smartphones typically do not excel in low-light situations. In contrast, the itel A95 captures slightly better low-light images.

Depth & Macro sensors
The depth and macro cameras appear to be included merely for the sake of having them. They do not fulfill any significant function, suggesting that Acer aimed to showcase three cameras in a 10k smartphone by adding these two. The portrait mode is inconsistent; it occasionally produces decent images, but at other times, the results are lacking. Capturing macro shots requires very specific lighting and distance, which makes the process cumbersome.

Selfie Camera
The 13MP front-facing camera exceeded my expectations. It captured impressive selfies even in low-light conditions. The selfies displayed a good level of detail, accurately represented faces, and rendered skin tones naturally. The sharpness and clarity were also satisfactory. In daylight, the selfies showcased vibrant colors and a commendable level of detail.

Overall, the camera setup is apt considering the pricing of Acer Super ZX, so don’t expect too much out of it.
Acer SuperZX Review: Battery Life and Charging
The Acer Super ZX is equipped with a solid 5000mAh battery, which is typical for smartphones within this price bracket. It provides a full day of usage when the activity level is light to moderate. Typical activities such as making calls, sending messages, browsing social media, watching videos, listening to music, using the camera, and playing casual games can be comfortably managed. With all these tasks, the battery comfortably lasts throughout the day, leaving approximately 15% charge by the end.
If you are a frequent user, you will need to charge it in the evening. Frequent usage encompasses playing resource-intensive games, streaming videos for extended periods, utilizing the camera for long durations, and conducting benchmark tests. Accessing the battery menu through the settings app will show the remaining battery percentage along with options such as battery saver, adaptive battery, and battery usage.
Regarding charging, Acer includes a 33W adapter in the box along with a USB-C charging cable. It can fully charge from 0 to 100% in approximately 60-65 minutes, which is quite impressive for a budget smartphone. It provides a 50% charge in just half an hour, so if you’re pressed for time, you only need 30 minutes to power up your device. The charging cable included is braided, which adds a nice touch, and considering that most phones in this price range take around 80 minutes to charge completely, this model has a distinct advantage in this area.
Smartphone | Battery | Charging |
Acer Super ZX | 5000mAh | 33W |
Itel A95 | 5000mAh | 18W |
Poco M7 | 5160mAh | 33W |
Review Verdict: Should You Buy the Acer SuperZX?
Acer has launched its smartphones in India with the Super ZX and Super ZX Pro models. Priced at just Rs. 9999, the Acer Super ZX represents a significant effort by the brand in the budget smartphone market in India. Rather than adding unnecessary features, it prioritizes essential functions and successfully meets all the key requirements, including a decent SoC, a large battery, a clean user interface, and a premium design.
Although it has some drawbacks, such as the lack of promised OS updates, ineffective 2MP sensors, unsuitability for heavy gaming, absence of AI features, and a somewhat bulky feel, the Acer Super ZX can still be a wise choice for anyone seeking a dependable smartphone within a budget of 10k.
