Adobe is adding more features to its popular design and photo editing apps, such as Illustrator and Photoshop. The new features will help users accelerate their creative workflows and give them more control. While Illustrator is getting the new Generative Shape Fill (beta) feature for adding detailed vectors to shapes, Photoshop is introducing new Brush Tools that help users unlock new levels of productivity. Adobe Illustrator Gets Generative Shape Fill
First up, Adobe Illustrator is getting a new Generative Shape Fill (beta) tool that helps designers add detailed vectors to shapes by simply entering text promotes in the Contextual Taskbar. The feature is powered by the latest Firefly Vector Model (beta), designed to support creators with additional speed, power, and precision. Other features include the Dimension Tool, Mockup (beta), Retype, enhanced selection tools, and Text to Pattern (beta).
While the new Dimension Tool helps designers automate sizing for different elements, the Text to Pattern feature helps users generate scalable vector patterns. The Mockup and Style Reference features help preview 3D designs and scale vector graphic creations in their own unique style. Last but not least, the Enhance Detail tool helps users increase sharpness and detail in large-size image formats.

Adobe Photoshop Gets New Selection Brushes
Adobe Photoshop, on the other hand, is getting new features like the Selection Brush Tool and Adjustment Brush Tool and improvements to the Type Tool and Contextual Taskbar. While the Selection Brush Tool makes selecting, compositing, and applying filters intuitive, the Adjustment Brush helps to apply non-destructive adjustments to specific portions of images easily. The new Type Tool delivers more efficient ways to create bulleted and numbered lists.
Other features, like Generate Image and Enhance Detail, help users jumpstart ideation and creation and add detail to designs. The latest Firefly Vector Model (beta), which powers most of the new features, is now available in the Illustrator app. The Selection Brush Tool, Adjustment Brush Tool, and Generate Image are available on the Photoshop desktop and web app, starting July 23, 2024.
