TL; DR
  • Apple is currently developing its own version of the live translation feature, which offers real-time translation during conversations.
  • Although the report doesn’t mention the expected timeline for the feature’s arrival, we anticipate it will be available within a couple of months of the AirPods Pro 3’s launch.

Out of all the updates coming to the AirPods Pro 3, the live translation feature is among the most important, primarily since it will rival competitor earbuds that have made the feature available to buyers (for quite some time). The other two, reportedly, are a built-in heart rate sensor (as seen on the Powerbeats Pro 2) and a temperature sensor; two additions that can help users monitor their health.

AirPods Pro 3’s Live Translation Delayed

Apple H3 chip could power AirPods Pro 3

According to a recent 9To5Mac report, Apple is currently developing its own version of the live translation feature, which offers real-time translation during conversations. However, this feature might not be ready in time to debut with the AirPods Pro 3. The report mentions that the feature is not yet ready and will be introduced later via a software update, similar to the hearing aid features.

Although the report doesn’t mention the expected timeline for the feature’s arrival, we anticipate it will be available within a couple of months of the AirPods Pro 3’s launch. Even so, the health-monitoring features, including the heart-rate sensor and the temperature sensor (which may not provide direct temperature readings but assist other features in the Health app), will be functional from launch.

Apart from these features, we expect Apple to launch a new H-series chip for the earbuds, which should enhance the overall sound quality and noise cancellation of the device. The device will launch alongside the iPhone 17 on September 9, 2025.
