Amazon Prime Video Renews ‘The Traitors’ for Season 2: Here’s What We Know So Far

Amazon Prime Video collaborated with Karan Johar to bring a one-of-a-kind reality TV show, ‘The Traitors’, to India this month. The show is an Indian adaptation of the BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning global format and has struck a chord with the Indian masses within the first 6 episodes. Before the finale of season one could hit the streamer, Amazon has announced Season 2 of ‘The Traitors’ and also confirmed that it is very much in development. It is one of those rare instances when a show has been renewed for 2nd season even before the first one concluded. Here’s everything we know about ‘The Traitors’ Season 2.

The Traitors Season 2: Announcement

Amazon Prime Video took to its official Instagram handle to confirm that Season 2 of the reality show is now in development. Have a look at the announcement post below.

Talking about it, Nikhil Madhok, Director & Head of Originals at Prime Video India says (to Variety), “With its distinctive mix of tension, strategy and emotional honesty, brought to life by our versatile host Karan Johar and a stellar line up of players who have brought their A-game to the show, the series has emerged as a true breakout. As we continue to shape a bold and diverse unscripted slate at Prime Video, The Traitors stands out as a marquee title that pushes the boundaries of the reality genre. Buoyed by the overwhelming response, we’re thrilled to begin work on Season 2 and take the experience to the next level.”

The Traitors Season 2: Release Date

Since the second season is already in development, Amazon might release it with a gap of six months, not following the yearly release strategy like it does for fiction shows.

About ‘The Traitors’

The unscripted reality series premiered its first season on 12th June with 3 new episodes dropping every Thursday. The show will have a total of 10 episodes, and to date, all 6 episodes that have streamed have created loads of buzz on social media.

The Traitors: Plot/ Format

In this show, traitors are chosen by host Karan Johar on the first day, and they are kept secret from other players who are innocents. The 17 innocents have to work together to unmask the traitors amongst them, but they are running against time as the traitors will keep murdering one or the other innocent every night until they are caught.

In the show, the innocents have managed to catch just one traitor till now, which was Raj Kundra, ousted on the 2nd day itself. The other two traitors are still very much a part of the show (Elnaaz Nourouzi & Purav Jha).

The show is set in Suryagarh, Rajasthan, and features 20 well-known personalities from various fields participating in it. The cast includes Anshula Kapoor, Ashish Vidyarthi, Elnaaz Nourouzi, Harsh Gujral, Jannat Zubair, Jasmin Bhasin, Karan Kundra, Lakshmi Manchu, Maheep Kapoor, Mukesh Chhabra, Raftaar, Raj Kundra, Sudhanshu Pandey, Uorfi Javed, Apoorva Makhija, Janvee Gaur, Nikita Luther, Purav Jha, Sahil Salathia, and Sufi Motiwala.  

Meanwhile, episodes 7, 8, and 9 of the ongoing season of Traitors will stream on Amazon Prime Video tonight (8.30 pm onwards) while the finale episode will stream next Thursday.
