Amazon Smart Plug with Alexa integration launched at ₹ 1,999

A Smart Plug lets you control smart devices and appliances remotely through the Alexa app on your phone as well as voice commands. With it, you can also schedule the on/off routine for the connected device(s) and have them do so automatically. The newly launched Amazon Smart Plug with 3-pin socket design is touted to be convenient and smart at this job.

Let’s see its description and understand how it works.

Amazon Smart Plug: How it Works

As already mentioned, the Amazon Smart Plug has got a 3-pin socket design. You have to plug it into any socket in your living space. There is an on-off button on the left side and a LED indicator upfront.

Once its on, open the Alexa app on your phone. The app will scan and notify you of an available connection. Select the “New plug found” and proceed with the setup process. Once it’s set up and ready, it will enable voice control to any outlet.

In case it doesn’t detect the Smart Plug, you can manually hunt for it by tapping the Devices icon in the lower right corner.

Amazon Smart Plug works over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n network. It is compatible with Fire OS, Android, and iOS devices. It should work well with Echo devices and Fire TVs. For instance, you can simply command “Alexa, turn on the TV” and see it happen.

Although the use cases include most devices, you better not use it for heavy ones like AC, geyser, water heater, etc.

The Amazon Smart Plug measures 46×71.3x37mm and weighs 104 grams. It is designed for 220V to 240V, 50/60Hz, and at a max 6A for input and output.

Amazon Smart Plug Price and Availability

Amazon Smart Plug is currently up for grabs at Rs. 1,999 in India. Additionally, you can pair it with an Echo Dot for ₹4,498 or an Echo Dot with Clock for ₹5,498.
