The new AMD Radeon RX 6600 GPU Card is here. The company calls it to be a budget desktop graphics card that has better power efficiency and produces higher frame rates. The Radeon RX 6600 sits below RX 6600 XT in AMD’S line-up and the GPU card shoots at Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 across the board. Since the new GPU card is said to consume lesser power, this will help budget gaming desktop PC builders to get a modest GPU even with a power supply unit that’s smaller than 500W.

AMD Radeon RX 6600 Specs

It has fewer compute units in comparison to the RX 6600 XT. With 28 compute units, users get a base clock of 2044MHz and a boost clock of 2491MHz. It comes with a memory of 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM which combines with AMD Smart Access Memory technology in compatible PC builds that also use AMD Ryzen 5000 series CPUs.

The GPU card has a 32MB Infinity cache and runs on PCIe 4.0 with an x8 connector interface. It supports Windows 11, reports 132W typical power, and has AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution upscaling technology.

RX 6600 Performance

The general frame rates in 1080p gaming with FidelityFX upscaling and ray tracing are around 100fps in maximum games, but the overall performance is more towards the older generation Nvidia RTX 2060 and the AMD Radeon RTX 5700 instead of being nearer to the AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT. This suggests that in many ways, the new GPU card compromises performance for demanding gamers. Most critics have found it to be a “generally slower” card.

However, AMD might pitch the lower power consumption and lower cost as the selling points for the new GPU. This is because it might work perfectly well with single fan GPU designs from 3rd party retailers and with PSUs as small as 450W.

RX 6600 Price & Availability

The RX 6600 is priced at $329 (Rs. 24,750 approximately) and is said to compete against Nvidia RTX 3060 that has the same price. The RX 6600 will not have a reference card from AMD. It will be available only to board partners, including ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, PowerColor, Sapphire, XFX, and Yeston, and is available for purchase starting today.

The India price and availability of the GPU Card are expected to be unveiled soon.
