WWDC 2025: Apple Announces macOS Tahoe with New Capabilities for Spotlight & Continuity

Apple is presently conducting the Worldwide Developers Conference for 2025. In addition to iOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, Apple Intelligence, and new features for CarPlay, the tech giant has also introduced macOS 26, referred to as macOS Tahoe. This significant update for macOS features a revamped Messages app, Live Translation, and various design enhancements throughout the system.

Liquid Glass Design is also arriving on macOS Tahoe. This design enhances transparency, making it more noticeable than ever, as glass-like effects permeate the entire interface. The menu bar and control center are completely transparent, blending effortlessly with the desktop background.

The macOS Tahoe features two significant updates to Continuity. The first update is Live Activities, which allows you to monitor items such as deliveries or timers directly from your Mac without needing to switch devices. The second update introduces a new Phone app specifically designed for macOS, enhancing the experience of receiving calls on your Mac for greater convenience.

Spotlight is undergoing a significant enhancement. It will now provide intelligent recommendations for files based on your current tasks. Additionally, you can launch iPhone applications directly from your Mac, which will open in the iPhone Mirroring app introduced in 2024, facilitating smoother multitasking across devices.

A new game overlay will be introduced with macOS Tahoe, enabling users to utilize gaming features such as live chat with friends, modify settings, or invite friends on their Mac. Additionally, the Shortcuts app will receive intelligent actions and will support on-device processing, Private Cloud Compute, or integration with ChatGPT.
