Apple App Store Prices are about to increase in India

In the coming few days, the price of apps and in-app purchases (excluding auto-renewable subscriptions) on the Apple App Store is going to sour. So, this may be the right time to buy apps on your wishlist and shop or subscribe to the special content of your favorite app. The new update is applicable to India, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Russia, and South Africa.

But why? you may wonder.

According to Apple, this is done to accommodate changes in taxes or foreign exchange rates. In the case of India, the former is the reason. There has been a new 2% equalization charge since April 1, 2020 (plus the existing 18% GST).

The revised price tier charts and instructions have been shared with app developers. In addition to this, the new pricing details will be available over the Pricing and Availability section in the Apple Developer portal.

Notably, the developer proceeds will be calculated based on the tax-exclusive price and adjusted accordingly. The company allows devs to change the price of their apps and in-app purchases (including auto-renewable subscriptions) at any time in App Store Connect. They can also choose to preserve the prices for existing subscriptions.
