Apple enthusiasts in India are eagerly awaiting the launch of the much-anticipated iPhone 15 series, slated to be unveiled at a special event tonight. While months of leaks and rumors have given us a sneak peek into the upcoming iPhones’ features and design changes, one question looms large: How much will these new iPhones cost in India?

Is iPhone 15 Set to Be More Affordable in India?

First and foremost, the upcoming iPhone 15 will not be the inaugural iPhone model to be assembled in India. Previous iterations, namely the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14, also bore the “made in India” label. However, this localization didn’t translate to lower prices for Indian consumers.

To jog your memory, the 128 GB variant of the iPhone 13 made its Indian debut at a price of Rs 79,900. Likewise, the base model of the iPhone 14 also entered the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 79,900. At the time of their launches in the United States, both phones were priced at USD 799. Essentially, this implies that the Indian price for these earlier iPhone models mirrored their US counterparts, with a straightforward conversion of the US price to Indian rupees at a rate of 100.

Apple iPhone 15 Price in India Expectation

In the United States, the iPhone 14 series started at $799, with the base model in India priced at Rs 79,900. Speculation is rife that the new iPhone 15 series might see price hikes in the US market. But what about the Indian market?

For Indian consumers, the pricing for the non-Pro models is expected to remain consistent with last year. Based on this, it is anticipated that the iPhone 15, the standard model, could be priced around Rs 82,900.

iPhone 15: What to expect?

The standard iPhone 15 models are poised to bring significant upgrades to the table. The familiar notch, a feature that has persisted since the iPhone X series, will be replaced by the Dynamic Island, a feature previously introduced in last year’s Pro models. This change is expected to offer users a larger screen real estate while reducing bezel size. Reports also suggest a substantial upgrade to the primary camera, with a jump from 12 MP to 48 MP. Powering these devices will be the A16 Bionic chipset, the same powerhouse that fueled last year’s Pro models. Additionally, there’s a noteworthy change – both non-Pro and Pro models are rumored to adopt the USB Type-C port, replacing the familiar Lightning cable.

The Pro models of the iPhone 15 series are set to introduce a new titanium frame, replacing the existing stainless steel, promising enhanced durability without adding extra weight. In fact, these phones are expected to shed 10% of their weight. In the camera department, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is slated to include a periscope lens, offering 5x-6x optical zoom capabilities. Even the Pro models will make the switch to USB Type-C ports.

It’s essential to note that these price hike estimates are based on rumors, so potential buyers are advised to take them with a pinch of skepticism until Apple officially announces the pricing details.

As the clock ticks down to the iPhone 15 launch event, the excitement and curiosity among Indian consumers are palpable. All eyes are now on Apple as they reveal the pricing for the new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models, potentially setting the stage for a new era of smartphone technology in India.
