Apple iPhone SE 2 with A13 Bionic rumored to arrive in Q1 2020 at $399

Its been more than 3 years since Apple surprised the market with a relatively affordable iPhone SE (Special Edition). It was lauded by the critics and commoners alike. It came in an iPhone 5S-ish chassis with the soul of the iPhone 6S. The highlight was its compact form factor. But once it did its shelf life, we were anticipating a successor. Well, now there seems to be a stir in the rumor mill. Apple could make a splash with the iPhone SE 2 in quarter 1 of next year.

Ming-Chi Kuo of TF Securities claims the iPhone SE 2 will ship with the A13 processor, found inside the recently unveiled iPhone 11 series. The internal spec sheet, as per him, will hold 64GB and 128GB storage, with 3GB of RAM.

The predictions also list 3 color variants viz Space Gray, Silver, and Red. It is speculated to sport the iPhone 8-like body. Since 3D touch has gone for good with the iPhone 11 lineup, don’t expect the same to surface in the SE 2 either. Enter Haptic Touch!

Moving beyond the specs, he foresees the iPhone SE 2 to become a “Key Growth Driver” for Apple in 2020. New users might board the iOS ecosystem to exploit the price difference compared to the iPhone 11 range. He forecasts around 30 million units will be sold in the entirety of 2020 to match this demand.

Kuo foresees the SE 2 arrive at a price of $399 in the Quarter 1 of 2020.

This year’s Apple event showcased the new iPhones with improved cameras, powerful yet power-efficient A13 processor and relatively low price tags. It was one of the biggest year-over-year reductions in iPhone history. So, with them in the market, we are a bit precarious about the iPhone SE 2. Therefore, it’s better to take these rumors with a pinch of salt, until any official hints surface.
