After releasing the iPhone 15 in September 2023, the Cupertino-based tech giant Apple plans to overhaul the AirPods lineup. Currently, Apple sells four iterations of AirPods, including the AirPods (2nd Generation), AriPods (3rd Generation), AirPods Pro (2nd Generation with USB-C port), and the over-ear AirPods Max. However, according to one of the most trusted sources in the industry, the company could launch revamp all the models starting from next year.

Fourth Generation AirPods To Come With Significant Changes

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, we should expect to see an “end-to-end overhaul” of the AirPods lineup, which consists of four models at the moment. Citing people familiar with the matter, Gurman writes that the company will launch a new version of the entry-level earbuds (both the second and the third generation) in 2024 and another for the Pro model in 2025. Moreover, Apple will update the products’ earbud design, how the cases look, and the most crucial part, audio quality. Further, we could also see a new version of Apple’s headphones in 2024.

AirPods (3rd Generation)

The Higher-End Model Will Feature Noise Cancelation

In 2024, the company is planning to replace the entry-level AirPods (2nd Generation) and AirPods (3rd Generation) with “two fourth-generation” versions. Although these models will be priced similarly to the current offerings, they will be better “differentiated.” The two models will come with a new design inspired by the current third-generation and Pro AirPods. They will feature short stems.

Both the fourth-generation models will include a USB-C charging port. However, regarding the differentiation part, Apple will offer noise cancelation in the higher-end version, which should also get a new charging case with Find My speakers.

AirPods Pro (2nd Generation)

AirPods Max With USB-C Charging Port To Arrive In 2024

Apple is also working on revamping the AirPods Max. The new model, which should come out late next year, will have a USB-C charging port and fresh colors. Last but not least, the Pro earbuds will get a new design and processor, but that won’t happen until 2025. Gurman also notes that it could come with health features related to hearing. Previously, we’ve also heard about fitness tracking features on the earphones, and it would be great to see those on the new AirPods Pro.

It is important to mention that AirPods are among the most popular earbuds on the planet. Every year, the lineup brings in about $40 billion for the company. Hence, Apple will be very cautious about any changes it will make. For now, buyers can get the AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) with a USB-C port for Rs. 24,900 and the AirPods (3rd Generation) for Rs. 19,900 on the Indian e-store and offline stores in Apple BKC and Saket.
