TL; DR
  • According to the leakster Kosutnami, the Vision Air will be thinner than the current headset.
  • Further, the Cupertino-giant could use titanium for the headset, its connectors, and the battery, which could significantly reduce the weight.
  • Furthermore, the Vision Air will be available in an “iPhone 5-era black” color, which resembles graphite dark blue.

Most recently, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported on Apple’s vision of creating more mixed-reality headsets. While the Vision Pro 2 could be a direct successor to the Vision Pro, the other headset might be a lighter and more affordable version of the original, appealing to a broader audience.

Vision Air Could Feature Titanium Interiors To Reduce Its Weight

Now, more details have surfaced about the lighter headset, which might be called the “Vision Air.” According to the leakster Kosutnami, the Vision Air will be thinner than the current headset, most likely due to the omission of certain heavy-weight components.

Further, the Cupertino-giant could use titanium for the headset, its connectors, and the battery, which could significantly reduce the weight. Though the company will still use aluminum for the headset’s exterior, it could use titanium for the internal components, which would help reduce the device’s weight.

Vision Air Could Come In Graphite Dark Blue Shade

Furthermore, the Vision Air will be available in an “iPhone 5-era black” color, which resembles graphite dark blue. In addition to all these claims, the leaker has also shared a few images of what appears to be a new Lightning-style connector in a Midnight finish.

While the original cable for the Vision Pro has 12 pins, this one has eight pins, suggesting that the Vision Air might require lower power or data transfer speeds.

While the second-generation Vision Pro could be released in Apple’s next financial year, which begins on the last Sunday of September, there are no concrete rumors about a more affordable and lighter version of the headset. However, we believe that Apple could benefit from a more affordable mixed-reality headset.
