The Apple M4 chipset is making waves again, after its first reveal on the iPad Pro. Leaks on the M4 MacBook Pro have shown some exciting specs, including a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Benchmark scores are in, and they look impressive.
The fastest single-core performance on an M-series chip
In the earlier unboxing video, we saw that the M4 MacBook Pro scored 3864 for single-core performance and 15288 for multi-core in Geekbench. That’s a significant jump—about 26% better in single-core and around 30% better in multi-core performance compared to its predecessor. The M4 runs at a base clock speed of 4.41 GHz.

According to a recent post by VadimYuryev on X, the M4 scored an impressive 174 in Cinebench 2024 for single-core performance, beating out competitors like the Snapdragon X Elite, Intel Core Ultra Series 2, and the previous M3 Max.
For context, the M3 Max scored 141, Snapdragon X Elite hit 133, and Lunar Lake managed 121. This makes the M4 the fastest single-core performer in the M-series lineup. The M4 Pro and the M4 Max could be even more powerful.

The M4’s performance suggests a real upgrade over the M3, which offered only minor improvements over the M2.
Overall, the M4 chipset looks like a game changer for Apple, especially for the M4 MacBook Pro. The chipset will first debut on the Macs in late October. The new redesigned Mac mini, MacBook Pro, and the iMac are all expected to feature the M4 chip.
