Apple working on a foldable iPad
Bloomberg‘s newsletter, “Power On,” reports that Apple is developing a foldable iPad that could measure the equivalent of two iPads placed next to each other when fully opened. The display of this foldable device is expected to be approximately 20 inches in size. It has been suggested that Apple has been focused on addressing the crease issue associated with foldable technology for several years.

Users will have the capability to transform this tablet into a temporary MacBook, resembling dual-screen laptops such as the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i. The primary distinction is that the Lenovo model includes a hinge, while Apple aims for its foldable design to appear as a seamless glass surface, devoid of any creases. Although current Apple prototypes exhibit a nearly imperceptible crease, the complete removal of this feature remains an ongoing development effort.
The forthcoming foldable device, while free of creases, will not serve as a hybrid between the iPad and Mac. The specific operating system for the tablet remains unclear; however, Gurman suggests it could either be iPadOS or a variant of MacOS, potentially incorporating elements from both systems. This device is being designed for users seeking expansive screens for activities such as gaming, software development, or media consumption. Additionally, it will be compatible with iPad accessories, including the Apple Pencil.
