TL;DR
  • Apple might launch the Vision Pro 2 Headset later in 2025.
  • The headset will be powered by M5 SoC.
  • It is expected to feature a lighter design than Vision Pro.

Apple introduced one of its most groundbreaking products, the Apple Vision Pro Headset, in 2024. Although its sales figures suggest it may not have met expectations, this has not dissuaded the company from developing a second-generation model with various enhancements. Following the release of the visionOS 2.4 update and speculation that visionOS 3.0 will be the most substantial update for the Vision Pro to date, a recent report indicates that Apple may unveil the Vision Pro 2 later this year. According to a report from IT Home, the company has ramped up production of its upcoming headset and intends to launch it in 2025.

Apple Vision Pro 2: Details

The publication claims multiple independent sources have confirmed that the shell, panel, and other key components of Vision Pro 2 are already in production, so IT Home predicts that Apple will soon release the device. The report received a follow up by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who claims that Vision Pro 2 with M5 chipset will be released in 2025 or early 2026.

The journalist writes, “Apple is working on various ideas for its Vision headset line, but at least one version of the second-generation Vision Pro- assuming it’s released will look almost entirely like the current design. The big changes are internal, including a processor upgrade.”

IT Home also says that Apple won’t make fundamental changes to Vision Pro, as many parts that were used in 1st generation will be reused for the second one. Also, it has been confirmed that in 2024 and 2025, Apple had to cancel the production of Vision Pro due to lower-than-expected sales, so obviously, it will have many parts lying around in stock.

However, if you are someone waiting for Apple Vision Pro 2, don’t expect a revolution with the new model. Apple might boost its specs, making it lighter and less expensive, but that’s about it. It is also unclear if Apple will bring up a new iteration of the R1 chip or if it will improve battery life. A brand new Vision Pro is still years away, but if Vision Pro 2 comes out in 2025, it would mean Apple hasn’t given up on its spatial computing device.
