The internet has been buzzing on September 12 or 13 as the date when Apple will launch its all-new iPhone 15 series. Well, turns out the news was true after all as the Cupertino-based giant just confirmed September 12 as the date for its grand launch.

Apple sent out invites for its upcoming Apple Event tagged as ‘Wonderlust’, a cue to ’Wanderlust’ which means a desire to travel. Seems like Apple wants to metaphorically transfer the audience to a new realm and to ‘wow’ them.

iPhone 15 Series is set to make a huge wave

In anywhich ways, Apple will be launching the iPhone 15 series which includes the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15 Pro Max (could be named iPhone 15 Ultra). The series is expected to bring colossal changes including USB-C ports for all four to comply with EU mandates. The Pro will upgrade to a titanium frame plus a periscope zoom camera probably with a bigger lens than Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. There’s a programmable Action button for the mute switch and Dynamic Island on all four models.

There are some obvious upgrades such as the A17 Bionic chipset made on a 3nm node for the Pro models that promises significant upgrades. We have heard Apple will upgrade to a 2TB storage tier too, probably at the cost of the 128GB variant although that remains to be seen.

The ‘Watch-ful Duo’ – Apple Watch Series 9 & Apple Watch Ultra

Certainly, the iPhone 15 series won’t be alone at the event. Apple Watch Series 9 with a refreshed S-series chip will make it to the public during the ‘Wonderlust’ event. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg says it will get an S9 chip based on the A15 Bionic chip from iPhone 13/14 unraveling significant performance upgrades over Apple Watch Series 8.

Apple Watch Ultra 2 will join the event as a top-of-the-line product succeeding the original Apple Watch Ultra launched at a price of $800. The Ultra 2 will pack in the same S9 processor as that of Series 9 plus 3D printed components making it lighter than the first-gen model.

The Cupertino-based giant is also launching new iPhone and Apple Watch cases and bands in a variety of colors. These will be available online immediately after the event while iPhones and Apple Watch will get a date for availability during the launch itself.

Watch out for Apple ‘Wonderlust’ Event on September 12 at 10 am PT or 10.30 pm IST. As always, you can watch the event live at apple.com or on your Apple TV app. It will be live-streamed across various channels including YouTube. In case you missed it, we will be following the launch event so do hang out on SmartPrix a bit to know more.
