Apple is gearing up for its iOS 17 launch later this year. Although earlier it was believed the update won’t be significant, the latest information coming from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says otherwise. To be unveiled at the WWDC 2023 in June this year (as usual), the IOS 17 will have significant updates including some ‘nice to have’ user-requested features that Apple has reportedly decided to introduce.

Gurman’s report doesn’t mention any particular features but it does indicate that Apple is working on something big.

The initial development plan was to fix existing bugs and improve performance. The iOS 17 was assumed as a ‘tuned-up’ update rather than a whole new iOS version in simple words. It is also important given the turbulent start iOS 16 got last year. However, Apple is likely to do something much more significant with iOS 17. It won’t just improve the reliability and stability of the upcoming iOS but work on incorporating certain new user-requested features as well.

Gurman’s report mentions ‘nice to have’ features although he hasn’t dived into the exact nature of these features. As of now, we do know that the iOS 17 is codenamed Dawn so you can identify any feature in the works associated with the codename.

Apple will introduce iOS 17 at the WWDC 2023 in June followed by its fall launch alongside iPhone 15 series that we have covered time and again. Some features that might see the light of day are certain changes to Siri, the ability to sideload apps and use alternate marketplaces, improved CarPlay experience, and support for mixed-reality headset Apple has been working on for ages.

Of course, these are only speculated features which mean iOS 17 may or may not get these features onboard albeit it will have other user-requested features on it.
