The Cupertino-based iPhone maker Apple is sending a team of experts to India. The team will investigate the recent case of Indian politicians like Shashi Tharoor, Mahua Moitra, and Priyanka Chaturvedi, among others, receiving threat notifications from Apple. In October, these politicians received threat alerts on their iPhones, indicating that cyber attackers could target them, sparking an elaborate digital argument.

A Visa-Related Issue Caused Delay In The Visit

Following the threat notifications, the Indian IT minister ordered an investigation, asking Apple to provide assistance and support. In response, the company said it doesn’t link the threat notifications to a particular attacker and that the alerts could be false alarms. According to a recent report by CNBC TV18, Apple’s representatives in India have interacted with the government. Still, the technical experts facing visa issues will visit the country soon.

In the recent past, Apple has acknowledged India as one of its fastest-growing markets. The iPhone sales in the country have been at an all-time high, thanks to local production and sales. To achieve this, the company surely needs the support of the Indian government for smooth operations and low taxes. However, since the threat notifications made several politicians question the government, the IT Ministry would be looking forward to a prompt response from the tech giant.
