TL; DR
- Apple’s $599 MacBook Neo is fully sold out for April, with new orders delivering May 1–8 at the earliest.
- Apple has doubled its 2026 production target to 10 million units after demand far exceeded forecasts.
- An A18 Pro chip supply issue may force Apple to transition to the A19 Pro sooner than planned.
Apple’s MacBook Neo is proving to be one of its most successful products in quite a while, and it looks like the company isn’t prepared for it. According to a report by 9To5Mac, Apple has sold out its MacBook Neo inventory for the entire month.
Fresh Online Orders Will Be Fulfilled In The First Week Of May

Fresh orders placed via the company’s website are expected to be delivered in May 2026. What’s clear is that customers are purchasing the laptop faster than Apple planned to produce them. While the report primarily covers the US market, the same is true for India.
The official Apple India website currently shows a delivery timeline of April 30 to May 7 if I place an order today. This is true for both the 256GB and 512GB storage variants, and all the colors.

However, when I talked to two local Unicorn stores in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, I found out that the stock for both the models is available for in-store pickup, with Rs. 4,000 off as a cashback offer and 5% in-store discount from the retailer.
Obviously, this could be a hyperlocal case related to offline inventory, but that doesn’t take away anything from the fact that the MacBook Neo is doing exceptionally well.
Education Pricing Makes The MacBook Neo An Even Better Deal
Buyers getting the device from Unicorn can either club both the offers together, or get the device at the education pricing, which is Rs. 10,000 less for both the storage variants.
While India remains a price-sensitive market, the fact that Apple’s website isn’t able to provide the product in the standard timeline (around three to five business days) is a testament to the product’s success.
With competitors struggling to procure memory and other components for their devices, Apple’s unique position as one of the largest consumer electronics sellers in the world seems to have given it some leverage, which is reflected in the price of the MacBook Neo.
While it might not be as appealing in India, starting at Rs. 70,000 for the baseline variant (Rs. 60,000), it offers killer value in the US, where the starting price is $599 (around Rs. 55,600) for regular and $499 (around Rs. 46,000) for education buyers.
There’s a wrinkle, though, as the A18 Pro chip in the MacBook Neo is a binned chip, the production of which has reportedly ended. Hence, going forward, Apple would either have to restart the production of the chip or transition faster to the binned version of the A19 Pro chip with a refresh.
