Leading EV manufacturer Ather Energy has upgraded their existing Ather 450X and Ather 450 Plus scooter with a new SmartEco Riding Mode. The mode has been devised to strike a balance between range and performance. This new OTA update aims to enable the riders to get the E-scooter’s true range while reducing the impact on the available performance.

The new Eco mode has a different algorithm that takes into account various factors like road condition, riding style, load, etc., and then adjusts acceleration. The company says that the chances of achieving True Range are maximum when a single passenger is riding, the ride is at least 10km long and SmartEco mode is switched on.

Under this mode, the scooter starts showing a power bar on its display screen which uses different colors to indicate different things. A blue power bar means there is sufficient power on tap for the rider to extract whereas a red bar means less power availability, thus indicating the rider to lessen acceleration. Ather also suggests not trying to overtake or switch to a faster mode to accelerate freely.

The new ride mode can prove to be a major plus for the Ather e-scooters. The SmartEco mode basically lies between the existing Eco and Ride modes. The new OTA update is being rolled out gradually and will be available to all Ather owners soon.

How to update the scooter to have SmartEco Riding Mode?

To get the SmartEco Riding Mode, the Ather 450X and Ather 450 Plus users should have the Ather Connect Pro subscription plan and the latest version of Atherstack software installed.

The Ather Connect Lite and Service Lite are priced at Rs. 400 and Rs. 800 respectively, while the more premium Ather Connect Pro and Service Pro will cost you Rs. 700 and Rs. 1100 respectively. Once users activate the Ather Labs option in the Ather app, they will be able to install the new riding mode update. The update will take around 5 minutes.
