Yesterday, we covered the discounts offered by Maruti Suzuki on its Arena models, but that’s also applicable to other brands. If you’re in the market for a new car in December 2024, you’ll get offers on almost all personal vehicles from popular brands like Tata, Hyundai, Honda, Kia, etc. Since the year is about to end, automakers are trying to clear their stocks to begin the new calendar year with fresh inventory.
However, when the month ends and 2025 begins, companies will increase the prices for the newly manufactured models. You might still get discounts on 2024-make vehicles, but if you demand a 2025-make model, you’d have to pay a premium for it. Like every year, car manufacturers have decided to hike the prices across all the models. The price hike will be effective from January 1, 2025.

Maruti Suzuki To Hike Prices By Up To 4%

The largest car seller in India, Maruti Suzuki, has announced a price hike of up to 4%, effective January 2025. The company cites increasing input costs and operational expenses as the reason behind the hike. Despite the automaker’s efforts to keep the costs under control, it has now decided to pass on the increase in manufacturing costs to end consumers.
Nissan To Increase Magnite’s Price By 2%

The base variant of the new Magnite costs Rs. 5.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). However, starting next year, the vehicle’s prices will increase by up to 2%, i.e., by about Rs. 12,000. Even after the price hike, the Magnite will remain a value-for-money option for buyers who want an SUV-like stance but cannot stretch their budget. Interestingly, the X-Trail SUV from Nissan will not experience a price hike.
Hyundai To Increase Prices By Up To Rs. 25,000

Like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai has also decided to increase the prices by up to Rs. 25,000 across its lineup. There’s a good chance that the hike will be less for smaller cars like Grand i10 Nios and i20, especially for their base variants, and higher for bigger vehicles like Venue, Creta, Alcazar, and Tuscon. Even the electric cars offered by the company will experience a price (probably the highest of all).
Audi Announces A 3% Price Hike

Effective January 1, 2025, Audi India will hike its vehicle prices by 3%, which could translate to a significant amount. For now, the brand is assembling multiple models in India, including the A4, A6, Q3, Q3 Sportback, and Q5. While these variants might see a relatively lower price hike, the imported models, the A5 Sportback, Q8 SUV, e-tron GT, and RS e-tron GT, will see a higher hike (close to or equal to 3%).

Mercedes-Benz And BMW To Hike Their Prices As Well

The German automakers Mercedes-Benz and BMW have also announced a 3% price hike across their portfolio. While the former has mentioned that the GLC lineup will see a hike of Rs. 2 lakhs, the Maybach S680 lineup V12 will see a massive hike of Rs. 9 lakhs. While buyers can still purchase the December-made models at the current prices, the ones available from January 2025 will come with a revised price tag. Similarly, BMW’s locally produced models might see a relatively lower hike than those imported into the country.
What About Tata Motors?

The biggest Indian automaker hasn’t announced a price hike for its passenger or commercial vehicles as of 3:00 PM IST on December 6, 2024.
Earlier this year, the company announced a 0.7% (average) hike for its passenger vehicles. Going into 2025, the company might have to increase the prices even more, but nothing can be said with surety for now.
