The Chinese automaker BYD has launched the BYD Sealion 7 in India (based on the ePlatform 3.0). For a starting price of Rs. 48.90 lakhs, the Sealion 7 offers sleek exteriors, luxurious interiors, a claimed range of over 500 kilometers, and a four-wheel-drive system (on the top trim). Loaded with safety features, including Level 2 ADAS, the BYD electric SUV will hit the roads in March 2025.

The BYD Sealion 7 comes in two variants: Premium and Performance.

BYD Sealion 7: Battery Pack And Range


Both the Premium and Performance variants of the Sealion 7 ship with an 82.5 kWh battery. However, given that the Premium trim has a rear-wheel-drive system, it has a claimed range of 567 kilometers. On the other hand, the Performance trim has an all-wheel-drive system and offers a claimed range of 542 kilometers.
In the real world, the vehicle should provide around 400 kilometers of range on a single charge, depending on the driving pattern, traffic, air conditioning, and other crucial factors.
BYD Sealion 7: Powertrain
Now, let’s discuss the powertrain options one gets with the BYD Sealion 7.
- The Sealion 7 Premium (RWD) features a motor that produces 313 PS of peak power and 380 Nm of peak torque.
- The Sealion 7 Performance (AWD) comes with two motors, which produce a peak power of 530 PS and a peak torque of 690 Nm.

From the exterior, the BYD Sealion 7 has an SUV-coupe look, implying that it has a sloping roofline, giving it a sleek look. On the front, the vehicle has the same LED headlamps and DRLs as the BYD Seal. Between the headlamps is the blanked-off grille with what looks like air vents on either side. What’s unique is that you won’t see aggressive cladding or skid plate on the vehicle; it has a clean yet aggressive front that provides a sporty presence on the road.
The side profile is headlined by the 19-inch alloy wheels on the Premium and the 20-inch rims on the Performance variant. Further, it gets flush-type door handles that extend out of the vehicle when unlocked, allowing for easy access. The ORVMs have integrated turn indicators and come with an auto-tilt function for reversing the car. On the back, owners get a connected, pixelated LED tail light and rear fog lamps.

On the inside, the Sealion 7 gets a four-spoke steering wheel (with controls), black leatherette seat upholstery, three-point seatbelts, adjustable headrests, and a 15.6-inch infotainment screen that can be set in the portrait or landscape orientation. Then there’s the center console, which houses all the different controls for the drive selector, terrain modes, cupholders with adjustable depth, and the center armrest.
There’s a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that showcases all the vital details, like the remaining battery and range. Additional features include a dual-zone air conditioning system, a 50W fast wireless phone charger, a panoramic glass roof, and an eight-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat.
BYD Sealion 7: Safety Features
Regarding safety features, the vehicle comes with 11 airbags as standard on both trims, 360-degree cameras, all-four disk brakes, rear parking sensors, and Level 2 ADAS features, including adaptive cruise control. The vehicle also has an infrared camera in the cabin, which powers the driver’s attention warning feature.

While bookings for the vehicle are underway, the deliveries will start taking place on March 7, 2025.
