Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest action spectacle Coolie is playing in theaters, but fans are already looking ahead to its digital debut. The much-hyped collaboration with director Lokesh Kanagaraj released in cinemas on August 14 and continues to draw strong footfalls across India.

Producers have confirmed that Coolie will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video following its theatrical run. The announcement was discreetly included in the opening credits of the film, sparking excitement among streaming subscribers. While the exact streaming date remains under wraps, industry insiders suggest it could arrive on Prime Video about eight weeks after leaving theaters, in line with recent Tamil blockbuster release patterns.
Coolie Story and Setting
Set against the bustling backdrop of Chennai, Coolie follows Deva (Rajinikanth), a former daily-wage laborer who now runs a dormitory-style home. His life takes a dark turn after the mysterious death of his close friend Rajasekhar. Determined to seek justice, Deva’s investigation pulls him into the criminal empire of the ruthless Simon Xavier (played by Nagarjuna).
What begins as a personal quest quickly evolves into a high-stakes game of survival, uncovering a shared history between Deva and Simon that builds towards an explosive confrontation.

Bollywood veteran Aamir Khan makes a notable appearance as Dahaa, while Shobana plays Deva’s wife. The soundtrack features the voice of Pooja Hegde in the catchy track Monica.
