If you’re driving in Delhi, make sure that you have a color-coded fuel sticker on your car. The Delhi government has issued orders to penalize vehicles that don’t have a required sticker (which indicates the fuel type and contains the required registration details).
In a public notice available on transport.delhi.gov.in, the state government informs the general public “that the installation of High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP), including the third registration mark (color-coded sticker) on new and old vehicles registered in NCT of Delhi is a mandatory requirement.”

What Is The Fine For Color-Coded Fuel Stickers?

“The vehicle owners who fail to get the color-coded sticker (third registration mark) and HSRP affixed on their vehicles are liable for prosecution under the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, and the CMV Rules, 1989.”

What Are Color-Coded Stickers?
Color-coded or fuel stickers became compulsory in August 2018 by the Indian Supreme Court to streamline pollution control measures. They were part of the HSRP system, which became mandatory in 2019.
They are stickers stuck to the inside of the vehicle’s windshield, displaying important information such as the vehicle’s registration number. Usually, vehicle owners receive fuel stickers with a high-security number plate (at the dealership or at their home).
For those wondering, diesel vehicle owners must put an orange sticker on their windshield, while the color for petrol and CNG vehicles is light blue. All other vehicles, presumably hybrid and electric vehicles, should have a gray sticker.
