TL;DR
  • Devialet Launches Next-Gen Phantom Speakers in India.
  • Features Google Cast, Wi-Fi 6, and 1,100W.
  • Prices start high at ₹1.99 lakh.

Devialet is finally giving its imploding orb a promotion. More than ten years after the original Phantom changed what we expected from a wireless speaker, the company has launched the Phantom Ultimate series in India.

Revealed in New Delhi, the new lineup replaces the aging Phantom I and II with two performance tiers: the flagship 108 dB and the more “attainable” 98 dB. While the iconic, futuristic silhouette remains largely unchanged, the internals have undergone a complete overhaul.

What’s new under the hood?

The biggest change isn’t the sound—it’s the smarts. For the first time, Devialet is adding Google Cast (formerly Chromecast) to its flagship speakers, alongside the existing suite of AirPlay, Spotify Connect, and Roon Ready support.

The speakers now run on Devialet OS (DOS3), powered by an NXP i.MX 8M Nano processor. In plain English: the speakers should be faster to wake up, more stable on your Wi-Fi 6 network, and less likely to stutter when you’re jumping between Tidal and Bluetooth 5.3.

Key hardware updates include:

  • Touch Controls: You no longer need to hunt for your phone or the (admittedly beautiful) remote. The Ultimate 108 dB features four capacitive touch sensors on top for volume and playback.
  • Next-Gen Amplification: A new version of Devialet’s ADH (Analog Digital Hybrid) tech aims for better thermal management.
  • Adaptive Volume (AVL): Borrowed from the Devialet Dione soundbar, this tech dynamically adjusts the EQ in real-time so you don’t lose the “feeling” of the bass when listening at low volumes at night.

The Specs: 108 dB vs. 98 dB

If you’re deciding which one to mortgage your house for, it comes down to sheer physical impact. The 108 dB is a monster designed for large halls, while the 98 dB fits better on a bookshelf or desk.

Pricing and Availability

In true Devialet fashion, these are not mass-market gadgets. They are luxury furniture that happens to play music very, very loudly. The premium “Opéra de Paris” editions, finished in gold leaf, push the price nearly into the territory of a small hatchback.

  • Phantom Ultimate 98 dB: Starts at ₹1,99,999 (Deep Forest / Light Pearl)
  • Phantom Ultimate 108 dB: Starts at ₹4,08,999 (Deep Forest / Light Pearl)
  • Opéra de Paris Edition: ₹4,82,999 (Flagship 108 dB model)

The speakers are available now at Devialet brand stores and authorized retailers across India.
