The trailer for Dhurandhar has landed, and it is bloodier, grittier, and more intense than anyone expected.

Director Aditya Dhar (Uri: The Surgical Strike) has assembled a massive ensemble for this espionage thriller, headlined by Ranveer Singh in a role that sheds his usual high-energy persona for something far darker. The trailer, which dropped today, confirms a theatrical release for December 5, 2025, squashing rumors of a direct-to-streaming debut.

While fans have been searching for a Netflix release date, the trailer makes it clear: the big screen comes first.

Star Cast: Dhurandhar’s Assembled

The biggest talking point of the trailer isn’t just the action—it’s the character introductions. The film seems to treat its spies less like government agents and more like mythical figures.

  • Ranveer Singh as “Hamza” (The Wrath of God): The trailer shows a transformed Ranveer—long hair, battered, and brutal. His character is positioned as a “deadly operative” who operates in the shadows.

  • Arjun Rampal as “Major Iqbal” (The Angel of Death): Rampal plays the antagonist, a ruthless operative who goes toe-to-toe with Singh.

  • Akshaye Khanna as “Rehman Dakait” (The Apex Predator): Introduced smashing a skull, Khanna looks to be the film’s wildcard—cold, calculating, and violent.

  • R Madhavan as “Ajay Sanyal”: The Chief of Indian Intelligence. The character is reportedly modeled after real-life NSA Ajit Doval.

  • Sanjay Dutt as “The Jinn”: A mysterious enforcer who adds serious weight to the ensemble.

Dhurandhar Trailer: What did we learned about the movie?

The 4-minute cut is unusually long for a modern trailer, but it uses the time to build a specific atmosphere. It opens with Arjun Rampal’s Major Iqbal interrogating an Indian spy, setting a grim tone immediately.

We then see Madhavan’s Ajay Sanyal (who appears to be inspired by tales of Ajit Doval’s) planning a suicide mission into enemy territory, describing Hamza (Singh) as his “strongest asset.” The editing deserves special mention here; despite the length, the trailer reveals very little of the actual plot, focusing instead on the scale of the conflict and the “Avengers-style” assembly of this spy team.

“I didn’t see Ranveer Singh in any frame, only Hamza. It’s incredible.” — Arjun Rampal, at the trailer launch event.

Dhurandhar OTT Release: What We Know

Dhurandhar’s trailer also gave us a hint about its OTT release. Produced by Jio Studio, the Dhurandhar will debut on OTT with Netflix after its theatrical exclusive window expires.

  • Theatrical Release: December 5, 2025 (Confirmed)
  • OTT Platform: Expected on Netflix (Post-theatrical)

While a “Netflix Release to Follow” is the industry expectation, an official streaming date typically lands 8 weeks after the theatrical run. For now, Dhurandhar is an exclusive theatrical event.
