  • Dimensity 9500 is rumored to feature a 2+6 architecture (Cortex-X930 + Cortex-A730 cores) with clock speeds up to 4 GHz.
  • It’ll feature ARM’s SME (Scalable Matrix Extension) for improved multi-threaded performance.
  • Leaks suggest it’s still in testing phases, so details may vary.

The leaks on the Dimensity 9500 don’t seem to stop, and now we’ve got more details, including its architecture and clock speeds. The Dimensity 9400 was revealed barely three months ago, and we’re already hearing about its successor. The source here is Digital Chat Station on Weibo.

Here’s what we know

The Dimensity 9500 is set to use a new CPU architecture with Travis and Gelas cores (not sure what those mean yet). This likely translates to a cluster of Cortex-X930 and Cortex-A730 cores in a 2 + 6 setup—two Cortex-X930 cores and six Cortex-A730 cores.

This setup feels like it’s borrowing from the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The Dimensity 9400, for reference, uses a 1 + 3 + 4 setup. The maximum clock speed is said to be 4 GHz. That’s still lower than the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s 4.32 GHz but higher than the 9400’s 3.63 GHz.

This time, there’s also word about support for ARM’s SME (Scalable Matrix Extension), which should significantly improve multi-threaded performance. In short, this means better performance for workloads that can use all those cores.

The Dimensity 9500 will reportedly use TSMC’s N3P process (3nm). The jump from Dimensity 9300 to 9400 was already massive and it looks like we’re in for another big leap.

That said, it’s still early days, and these are probably testing units, so take all this with a pinch of salt. What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments below.
