What is DigiLocker?

DigiLocker is an Indian digitization online service provided by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India under its Digital India Initiative. It was launched in 2015 and the application has a file size of about 56.5MB for android and 68.2MB for iOS devices.

One needs to have an Aadhar number to use DigiLocker. The best part about this app is that saves the digital copies of your important documents that are government-approved. One can store a range of documents like school and college mark sheets, passports, ID Proofs, and more in digital form.

You can upload the documents and keep these safe when you sign up for a DigiLocker account. There is a dedicated cloud storage space that gets linked to your Aadhar number. This way all your documents are always by your side, too without the risk of losing them as it eliminates the use of physical documents and enables sharing e-docs across government agencies.
