In a market saturated with all-rounders, OnePlus appears to be doubling down on a dedicated new category: gaming. We’ve received information from a trusted industry insider that the company is developing a new, high-performance smartphone focused purely on a gaming audience.

This device, known internally by its codename “Macan,” is expected to launch with the marketing name “OnePlus Turbo.” While OnePlus has used high-refresh-rate screens and powerful chips in its mainline phones, this device seems to be a different beast altogether, prioritizing raw power and endurance.
Here’s what we’ve learned.
OnePlus Turbo Specifications
The “Turbo” name seems fitting, as the spec sheet points to several firsts and flagship-level features. The device is tipped to be the first phone to market powered by the unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.
To support this powerful silicon, the phone will reportedly feature a “Glacier Cooling System” to manage thermals during extended gaming sessions.
The display is also a key focus, rumored to be a ~6.7-inch, 1.5K resolution OLED panel with an exceptionally smooth 165Hz refresh rate.

Perhaps the most surprising specification is the battery. Our source indicates the OnePlus Turbo will house a massive 8,000mAh battery, nearly double the capacity of many modern flagships. This will reportedly be paired with 100W fast charging.
On the camera front, the OnePlus Turbo is a little more modest. It will feature a dual camera setup on the rear with a 50MP primary camera which is coupled with a 8MP ultrawide angle sensor. While we do not have a clear idea about the selfie camera, it could very well be a 32MP sensor.
Other features will include an X-axis linear motor for precise haptics, stereo speakers, NFC, and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
India Launch Details
According to our source, the device is already actively being tested in India, a key market for the brand. If this testing phase proceeds as planned, the OnePlus Turbo could see an official launch within the next two months.
Looking at the specsheet, the OnePlus Turbo is shaping up to be a true performance-oriented device, though its success will depend on the final pricing and how it manages to differentiate itself from other gaming-centric competitors.
