After a plethora of rumors and leaks, e-commerce giants Amazon and Flipkart have revealed the dates for their biggest annual sales, known as the Great Indian Festival and the Big Billion Days 2025. Guess what, both platforms are commencing with the sale on the same day, and paid subscribers will get a 24-hour early access.

Big Billion Days & Great Indian Festival Dates Are Out
- The Flipkart Big Billion Days 2025 sale will begin on September 23, 2025.
- Meanwhile, the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2025 sale will also start on September 23, 2025.
Like all the other sale events, Flipkart Plus/Black and Amazon Prime members will gain early access to the sale, beginning from 12:00 AM on September 22, 2025.

Why Have The E-Commerce Platforms Delayed The Sale?
Initially, we heard that the sale could begin in the week of September 15. However, it appears that the revised GST rates (and the corresponding effective dates) have had an impact on the annual sales events.
As you may already be aware, the revised GST rates take effect on September 22, 2025. Therefore, most items on sale on September 23, 2025, will already be taxed at the new, lower GST rates. If the sale began before September 22, 2025, the pre-reform rates with higher GST would have applied.
This also means that the discounts shoppers will see during the sales will largely include the tax benefit. Either way, consumers should also benefit from the revised GST rates if retailers decide to pass on the entire GST reduction (and the corresponding margin) to them.
