Known for its expertise in fitness wearables and health technology, Garmin is bringing these innovative smartwatches to India following significant success in international markets. The brand has appointed the highly fit actor and model Milind Soman as its ambassador in India, who played a key role in today’s launch event.

The 51mm AMOLED variant boasts a battery life of up to 29 days in smartwatch mode, whereas the solar version can extend this duration to 48 days.

In India, the starting price is Rs. 86,990, and each watch is backed by a 2-year warranty. Interested buyers can purchase these watches through the Garmin India website or at select premium retail outlets.

Garmin Fenix 8 Series: Features

The Fenix 8 Series watches are designed with military-grade durability, offering resistance to extreme temperatures, shocks, and water exposure. They feature a protective guard that enhances their longevity by safeguarding essential components from damage, along with leak-proof metal buttons for added durability.

In terms of connectivity, these watches are equipped with a built-in speaker and microphone, enabling users to make and receive calls directly from the watch when connected to a smartphone. They also support voice commands for tasks such as note-taking and assistance, even without an internet connection. Additionally, the watches can send text messages when in proximity to LTE and WiFi networks, and the accompanying app facilitates communication with family and friends.

Fitness tracking is a key feature of Garmin watches, and the Fenix 8 Series is no exception. These watches are equipped with a range of functionalities, including daily readiness assessments and Body Battery Scores, which assist in evaluating physical preparedness for exercise. Additional metrics such as VO2 max, endurance levels, and training status provide essential insights into overall performance. Tailored strength training programs designed for athletes include sport-specific workouts for activities like trail running and skiing, positioning this smartwatch as a well-rounded fitness companion.

The Fenix 8 Series incorporates the standard array of Garmin health features, including blood oxygen monitoring, calorie tracking, stress management, and heart rate tracking, among others. Outdoor enthusiasts are likely to appreciate this smartwatch, as it is equipped with a bright, adjustable LED flashlight that includes red light and strobe modes for visibility in low-light environments. Additionally, it is designed for water activities, boasting a water resistance of up to 40 meters, and specific features for scuba and apnea diving. The series also offers pre-loaded golf course maps, ski report navigation, and comprehensive TopoActive maps.

The battery performance is a standout feature of the Fenix 8 Series. For the AMOLED models, the 43mm variant boasts a battery life of up to 10 days, while the 47mm version provides a backup of up to 16 days. The largest 51mm model can last up to 29 days on a single charge.

In addition, the Fenix 8 solar variant significantly extends battery life. The 47mm solar model is rated for up to 28 days, and the 51mm version can last as long as 48 days. However, it is important to note that the solar versions require consistent exposure to sunlight to achieve these durations.
