Google ends YouTube, Gmail, Maps apps support for these phones

Google has pulled its support plug from several Google apps including Google Maps, Gmail, and YouTube for some Android phones. That’s right, some millions of Android users with an outdated version.

Google apps will not work on smartphones with Android 2.3.7 or lower. Android 2.3.7 was released in December 2010.

In a statement, the company said: “As part of our ongoing efforts to keep our users safe, Google will no longer allow sign-in on Android devices that run Android 2.3.7 or lower starting September 27, 2021. If you sign in to your device after September 27, you may get a username or password errors when you try to use Google products and services like Gmail, YouTube, and Maps.”

If your smartphone supports Android 3.0 or above, Google urged users to update to keep using apps uninterrupted.It is not possible to access apps on the device if the OS is not updated to a newer version. A number of apps, such as Google Play Store, YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail, and Google calendar will not be compatible with the services.

This development will impact Sony Xperia Advance, Lenovo K800, Sony Xperia Go, Vodafone Smart II, Samsung Galaxy S2, Sony Xperia P, LG Spectrum, and Sony Xperia S users.

Also, the apps will not be compatible with LG Prada 3.0, HTC Velocity, HTC Evo 4G, Motorola Fire, and Motorola XT532.

It is possible to log in to your Google account via the web browser for users unable to update their OS to Android 3.0 or higher.
