Now, Google Messages is giving its users a very attractive feature that lets them edit their RCS chats for a period of not more than 15 minutes. This enhancement, designed to eliminate the presence of typos in messages and to bring the experience of Google Messages closer to modern messaging platforms such as WhatsApp and iMessage, is to be achieved with the help of the following API.

Google Messages RCS Feature

Google is making a good move incorporating the edit feature to its messaging app as it offers more convenience and practicality to users after sending messages. It gives users a chance to correct any inaccuracies or modify their messages without any additional embedded measures.

The new features of message editing make it possible to consider Google Messages as the application for direct competition with other popular messaging solutions, and this may be considered as a starting point for developing further. A glimpse at the immensely popular social messaging apps indicate that users are well equipped to engage in a smooth messaging experience whether is with friends and families or business contacts.

In order to edit a sent message, a user only needs to open the app and scroll through the conversation containing the desired message; pressing on the message and holding it, the “Edit” button will appear in the menu. This action takes the message to a new compose window where users can make sure the message is sent with the right content. On the same note, once there are some modifications done, one-message replaces the other continuously in the conversation flow to avoid confusing and or misleading the target recipients.

However, it should also be added that the 15-minutes time limit which is provided to the users in order to edit their messages does not really restrict their control over the process and allows to find a balance between the opportunity to make changes not limited by the time and convenience. However, users should bear in mind this limitation by ensuring they deal with required corrections within this particular time frame.

As for now, this editing is available only in groups and in RCS chats but in the future, Google may expand the option for editing the sent messages to the usual SMS(MMS). However, message editing can be still considered as one of the progressions which have contributed in improving the productivity and usability of Google Messages.

Due to the developments made in the field of messaging in recent years, options that added to the messaging system such as the ability to edit the messages also provide crucial to user needs and expectations. Since Google Message focuses their efforts on updates and developing the application, users can expect further advancement of the app to increase the convenience of their messaging in the future.
