While some Google Photos features are locked behind a monthly subscription, the app still allows users to edit their photos significantly. For instance, one can convert their photos into black/white portraits, crop/rotate them, and adjust the brightness, contrast, highlights, and shadows. Further, users can also use markup tools to add text to their images.

Enhance for Photos: A Nifty Little Feature That Isn’t Given Enough Credit

However, there’s one such feature that helps improve an image’s overall look by pressing one button: Enhance. Once you tap on the Enhance button, Google Photos automatically changes the picture’s color, brightness, and contrast to improve the overall visual appeal.

While the feature comes in handy while editing a social media post or an image in general, Google seems to be working on a similar feature for videos. That’s right; we might get an Enhance button to edit videos quite soon. Recently, the X (formerly known as Twitter) user AssembleDebug was able to enable “Enhance your video” in Google Photos v6.81.0.628906483.

Enhance for Video To Improve Your Footages Instantly

To do so, the X user had to enable some hidden flags (experimental features that aren’t available for all users). The feature’s description, as seen in a screenshot shared by the user, reads, “New! Enhance your video with one tap.” Once the feature is available for all users, it could appear beside the stabilization button, which appears toward the bottom left corner.

Just like Enhance for photos, Enhance for Video will help users improve their footage’s color, contrast, and brightness. Per the Android Authority report, Google will process the videos locally on the users’ devices. Hence, the automatic adjustments could take a while, depending on the smartphone and its processing power.

Once the video is enhanced, users can save it as a copy. Moreover, the Enhance for Video feature aims to provide the convenience of improving some visuals at the press of a button. Instead of applying filters and manually changing each shot’s color values, users can export their final video through editing software and run it by the Google Photos app to do its magic.
