Google Pixel 8a is still a few months away but hey, when did that have stopped the leaks from populating, right? The latest are the images of the upcoming Google Pixel 8a that look legit. Posted by tipster Abhishek Yadav, the images show the yet-unreleased Google Pixel 8a, a toned-down version of Pixel 8, with rounded edges, a matte finish on the metallic frame, thick bezels, and a few more things that we could deduce. Here’s the story.

Google Pixel 8a Leaked Images

As you can see in the images below, the leaked images show the yet-unreleased Google Pixel 8a from all angles. Clad in a lustrous blue colorway, the phone shows its centrally-placed punch-hole cut-out with thick bezels around the edges. For one, we think this could be a hard shell even though 8a is a budget phone but let’s see. The pictures could tell a different story so let’s give it the benefit of the doubt at the moment.

Moving on, we have the sides that are curves compared to the Pixel 6 and 7 versions. It should make it easier to hold the phone. Plus, we have a metallic mid-frame and a glossy back panel that will make holding the phone like a symphony. Both power button and volume rockers are on the right plus a SIM card tray on the left.

Finally, we have the back panel that resembles much of previous Pixel iterations. Since Pixel 8a is a toned-down version of the Pixel 8 series, we are expecting similar specifications although with a dual camera setup. As you can see in the images here, a metallic visor courses from left to right housing the dual camera setup arranged horizontally in a pill-shaped lens while the LED flash is on the other side.

Google Pixel 8a Specifications (Rumored)

Google Pixel 8a has appeared on many forums to date. Its appearance on Geekbench v5 given its codename Akita operates on an underclocked Google Tensor G3 SoC, the same as Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. There’s Android 14 and 8GB of RAM under the hood. Together, the phone scored 1,218 and 3,175 points on single-core and multi-core tests although let’s say these aren’t the final results.

Google Pixel 8a should add its bit on top of Pixel 7a given the fact that it is a successor. To give it a perspective, Pixel 7a arrived with a Tensor G2 chip, 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB UFS 3.1 storage, a 6.1” OLED FHD+ 90Hz panel, a 4,835mAh battery clubbed with 18W fast charging tech. There’s a 13MP front plus 64MP primary with OIS and a 13MP ultrawide camera at the back.

Google Pixel 8a Release Date

Google Pixel 7a, the toned-down version of the Pixel 7 series, made its debut in May this year around Google I/O 2023. Albeit leaks have started pouring for the upcoming Pixel 8a, it’s not likely to break the launch schedule. Thus, we will have to wait till May next year to catch the debut of Pixel 8a unless the tech juggernaut decides to change something at its October 4th Google Pixel 8 series launch event followed by pre-orders commencing on October 5.
