During the Made by Google August launch event, the technology giant released not one but four new smartphones under the Pixel 9 series. These include the regular Pixel 9, the Pixel 9 Pro (new-entrant), the Pixel 9 Pro XL (successor to the Pixel 8 Pro), and Pixel 9 Pro Fold (successor to the original Pixel Fold). While two of these smartphones are available for purchase in India, the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold have yet to hit the Indian market. Well, that could change on September 4, 2024, as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be available on sale for the first time.

Pixel 9 Pro Fold Sale Date And Time
According to a banner published in Flipkart’s mobile section, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will go on sale at 12 PM, September 4, 2024, on Flpkart. Clicking on the banner also reveals the Indian pricing and the introductory offers. While the banner states that the phone will be available from Rs. 1,49,499, this could be the effective pricing of the phone, which isn’t applicable for all users.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold Price And Introductory Offers
First, the regular listing price of foldable is Rs. 1,72,999, for which the phone offers 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Then there’s a bank offer for ICICI Bank credit non-EMI, credit, and debit card EMI transactions, wherein users can get Rs. 10,000 off on the price. Further, if buyers decide to exchange their older smartphones, Flipkart is offering an additional exchange bonus of Rs. 13,500.
Hence, combining these offers that slash Rs. 23,500, the net effective price of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes out to be Rs. 1,49,499. The product page of the handset also mentions “extra 5% off on Google Charger,” but we aren’t sure about the process to claim the offer. Since the e-commerce platform doesn’t mention it anywhere, it is unclear whether the product will ship immediately (for those who order on September 4) or whether Flipkart will treat the orders as pre-orders and ship the devices later.

Pixel 9 Pro Fold Vs. Competition
It is important to mention here that the second-generation Pixel foldable competes directly with some of the most popular models in the market.
- For instance, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 (review) currently costs Rs. 1,55,899 for the base variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
- The OnePlus Open (review), one of the most affordable foldables in the latest generation, is selling for Rs. 1,24,999 on Flipkart. Interestingly, the foldable ships with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
- The Vivo Z Fold 3 Pro, with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, is available at Rs. 1,59,999 on Flipkart.
While the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Vivo X Fold3 Pro run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, the OnePlus Open features Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which isn’t as powerful but easily gets day-to-day tasks done. In comparison, the Tensor G4 SoC on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold offers higher optimization for on-device AI functions for running the latest batch of Google AI features. The cameras on Pixel’s foldable are among the best, though, and so is the software experience.
