Google Pixel Fold is getting real. Yes, you heard it right, the first foldable from Google is finally gearing up to have a launch in 2023. The first official renders and details about pricing and more have started surfacing online which confirms that the device is in the advanced stages of development.

Google Pixel Fold: Leaks & Rumours

Reports claim that the Google Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet with both be available in May 2023. Although Pixel Tablet was shown off by Google itself, there has been no official news about the Pixel Fold as of now. However, a report by FrontPageTech (Jon Prosser) indicates that the first foldable phone by Google might launch in May 2023 for $1799. This pricing makes it a Galaxy Z Fold competitor.

Although no definite name has been decided by Google for its foldable phone, internally it is being called ‘Pixel Fold’ or ‘Passport’, which is its codename. The renders indicate that the Pixel Fold has a book-like design similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and also features a sizable cover screen with a punch-hole camera and a sizable foldable display. The display has substantial top and bottom bezels.

The Pixel Fold’s camera setup resembles the Pixel 7 Pro but no details about the resolution are available as of now. The only thing we know is that the 2nd selfie camera in the upper bezel and the selfie camera in the cover display has a 9.5MP resolution. There is no under-panel camera and the weight of the device has made it bulky. It includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and is likely to have speakers on both the bottom and the top. Earlier reports revealed that the smartphone might have a display with 1200 nits brightness and 120Hz refresh rate. It is likely to have a triple camera setup at the back which will include a primary Sony IMX787 sensor and an IMX386 ultrawide sensor, and the inner display would have an IMX355 sensor along with the outer display having an S5K3JI telephoto lens. For now, it is said to come in Chalk and Obsidian colors.
