Honda has just introduced its latest midsize SUV, the Elevate, with a starting price of Rs 11 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base SV MT variant, making it a competitive choice in its segment. The top-spec ZX CVT variant comes in at Rs 16 lakh. Deliveries for the Elevate are set to begin today. This new offering from Honda is equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and offers both manual and automatic gearbox options.

Honda Elevate Variants and Pricing

The Honda Elevate comes in four trims – SV, V, VX, and ZX. It boasts a single-pane sunroof and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). In terms of pricing, here’s the breakdown:

  • SV: Manual – Rs 11.00 lakh, Automatic – N/A
  • V: Manual – Rs 12.11 lakh, Automatic – Rs 13.21 lakh
  • VX: Manual – Rs 13.50 lakh, Automatic – Rs 14.60 lakh
  • ZX: Manual – Rs 14.90 lakh, Automatic – Rs 16.00 lakh

Compared to other midsize SUVs, the top-spec Elevate is the most affordable, with only the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun starting at higher prices. Interestingly, the base and top-spec Honda City variants cost only Rs 57,000 and Rs 5,000 more, respectively, than their equivalent Elevate counterparts.

Honda Elevate Design and Features

The Elevate boasts a bold front grille, accentuated by thin LED headlights connected by a prominent chrome bar. It has a boxy design with flared wheel arches, robust plastic cladding, and a window line that tapers upward towards the chunky C-pillar. The 17-inch alloy wheels resemble those on the facelifted City.

At the rear, the Elevate features a slightly raked windshield, connected tail-lights, and a notable indentation on the tailgate for the number plate housing, along with a faux skid plate.

Inside, the Elevate offers a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, complemented by a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster. While it features a single-pane sunroof, like the Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun, it’s worth noting that most competitors offer a panoramic sunroof. The only exception in this segment is the upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross, which lacks a sunroof altogether.

Additional Elevate features include a lane-watch camera, wireless charging, and a rear parking camera. Honda also provides its Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with the Elevate, encompassing features such as collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, road departure warning, and automatic high beam assist. Among midsize SUVs, only the MG Astor and Kia Seltos facelift offer a similar level of ADAS.

Honda Elevate Powertrain, Dimensions, and Competition

Under the hood, the Elevate is powered by the same 121hp, 145Nm, 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine found in the City, with power sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual or a 7-step CVT automatic transmission.

Built on Honda’s Global Small Car platform, the Elevate measures 4,312mm in length, 1,790mm in width, and 1,650mm in height. It boasts a wheelbase of 2,650mm, ground clearance of 220mm, and a generous boot space of 458 liters. The Elevate’s ground clearance is best-in-class, while its wheelbase and boot space are notably competitive among its rivals.

The Elevate competes with the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and the upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment.
