Honda has unveiled its plans for India in the coming few years. In a press conference, the brand revealed that it will be bringing 10 new cars in India by 2030, out of which, seven will be SUVs. Apart from this, Honda has also revealed plans for export and potentially a subtle hint at a new product line for India. Let us take a look:

Honda Planning Comeback In India

While Honda has consistently been one of the most trusted names in the Indian market for about two decades now, the brand appears to be lagging behind in terms of the number of options and what you’re getting as compared to other mainstream brands like Hyundai, Toyota, Maruti Suzuki, Kia and more.

To tackle that, Honda today announced that it will be bringing 10 new cars to the market by 2030. Out of these, seven will be SUVs. Now, this looks highly ambitious since we are towards the fag end of 2025 which leaves Honda only 4 years and a couple of months to achieve the target. This would mean launching more than 2 new cars every year.

This, however, is said to give Honda an opportunity to compete with the likes of Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Kia, Toyota, and others. Even Volkswagen and Skoda have got more options in the market as compared to Honda. The SUV push will definitely give Honda an edge since the brand is considered more reliable and the Honda Elevate has been fairly successful, giving the brand consistent numbers even after almost 2 years of launch.

The Elevate’s delayed popularity is also an example of the trust people in India still have in a brand like Honda, but are limited by options. In the mid-range sedan segment, the Honda City has been the most popular sedan in the country consistently for over 20 years now. Honda’s new plans are part of the company’s elevated focus on Indian strategy. There were no specifics about Honda bringing any imports in these 10 new cars that are said to be launched, but we are hopeful.

Honda 0 Alpha EVs

One of the most significant development here is the Alpha 0 EV which was first showcased at the Japan Mobility Show earlier this year. The Honda 0 Alpha will be manufactured in the brand’s Tapukara plant in Alwar, Rajasthan and will be exported to overseas markets including Japan.

With this, Honda also aims to leverage its India manufacturing for exports. The Alpha 0 Electric SUV is also said to be designed for India and will share many elements with the Honda Elevate, meaning that we are looking at a potential India launch of the Honda 0 Alpha electric SUV.
