On Monday, February 5, Smartprix posted an exclusive press render of the Nothing Phone (2a), giving enthusiasts an idea of the company’s upcoming mid-range phone. The render showcases the handset’s back panel with a unique see-through design. It instilled a wave of communication on the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter), where netizens shared their thoughts about the phone’s overall look and some interesting insights.

Phone (2a) Render Revealed

We published the Phone (2a) press render along with @OnLeaks. His X post has gathered over 41K views so far. In the comments section, several users have praised the slightly new design. Contrary to the previous renders, which showcased the Phone (2a) as having a giant circular camera module with the lenses placed in the center, the new press render shows the camera lenses are in the top left corner.

Tipster Evan Blass Has A Different Take On The Design

However, known tipster @evleaks has a different opinion. He says that the render isn’t a “standard Foxconn-sources, CAD-based @onleaks leak,” implying that there’s a chance that it might not be accurate. He also says that the tagline for Phone (2a) aligns better with the previously leaked design, which had the cameras aligned horizontally in the center. Nonetheless, among to and fro on the platform, here’s what some netizens say about the Phone (2a) render.

Users Are Missing The Glyph Interface

In response to a post from @pmkphotoworks, @TEHCNOLEECH says that the “Glyph lights were something unique,” adding that “some trimmed down version of those lights would’ve been good to see.” Another user, @_Ameer_010, says, “It’s surprising that it doesn’t have the Glyph Light.” commenting on the expected price of the smartphone, @mohakstudios mentions that “it’s going to disrupt the market if it’s priced under 23K.”

Tipster @ishanagarwal24 also posted the render, saying that he’s confused about the previously leaked design and the new one. In response to the tweet, a user @balajinaik_15 posted an image of the render, highlighting the four possible positions of the Glpyh Interface on the phone. It’s not apparent at first, but when one looks carefully, there appear to be three dark-gray LED bands on the rear panel, which the user believes form the Glyph Interface.

It’s A Win-Win Situation For The Brand

Shortly after we published the leak, Nothing’s co-founder Akis Evangelidis posted a cryptic tweet on X. Nonetheless, some users like the render more as it appears not to have Glyph lights, whereas some users don’t agree with the design. Either way, the discussion shows that people are interested in the smartphone, which is an excellent feat for Nothing. The smartphone is expected to debut during the Mobile World Congress later this month. We’ve already covered the expected specifications of the smartphone in a separate post.
