How To Change Alexa Language From English To Hindi

Amazon Alexa now understands multiple languages and, as we noticed during our recent Echo Dot and Echo Plus review, it converses in Hindi remarkably well. The responses aren’t mere translations but have been fine-tuned to integrate witty catchphrases, oneliners, and even Bollywood dialogues to be more appealing to Hindi speaking audience.

If you are a native Hindi speaker, switching to Hindi or both English & Hindi language will result in Alexa understanding your English accents as well. This also makes interacting with Alexa so much more friendlier for my kids and my parents.

So, if you have your Echo device already configured in English and wish to integrate Hindi language support, here’s what you need to do.

Change Alexa language to Hindi

Just follow these simple steps

  1. Open the Alexa App

    Language settings for your Echo devices can be conveniently charged from the Alexa app on your phone.

  2. Select the relevant device

    Now go to the Devices tab at the bottom and select the device for which you wish to change the language.
    Ensure that the device that you are changing the language for is online.

  3. Scroll down to language settings

    Now scroll down and find the ‘Language’ option. Enter the language menu and select Hindi or select ŚHindi/ English for multi-lingual support.

  4. Wait for the changes to update

    Language update on your Echo device can take a few minutes and Alexa will notify you when the update is complete.

Using these simple steps you can change default Alexa language on your Amazon Echo devices. If Hindi is your first language, we’d recommend you give it a shot.
