Changing Instagram password on your phone via IG App

If you remember your old password, then the steps for changing it are similar for both Android and iOS devices-

  • Go to your profile by clicking on the profile picture in the bottom right corner of the app.
  • Tap on the 3 horizontal lines in the top right and click on the ‘Settings’ icon.
  • Tap on ‘Security’ and then on ‘Password’.
  • Type in your old password and then enter the new one.
  • Click on save or tap on the check mark icon in the top right.

Changing Instagram password on your phone via web browser

  • Tap on the profile photo in the bottom right, and go to your profile.
  • Click on the ‘Settings’ icon in the top left corner.
  • Click on ‘Change Password’.
  • Enter the old as well as the new password.
  • Finally, click on “Change Password’ to complete the process.

Changing Instagram password on a laptop/PC

  • Log in to your IG Account from your Mac or PC.
  • Visit your profile and click on settings.
  • Tap on ‘Change Password’.
  • Key in your old password and the new one as well.
  • Click on ‘Change Password’.

Resetting Instagram password

Sometimes, you might forget your Instagram password and in such a situation, follow the given steps-

  • Click on the Instagram app to open it. Go to your profile and click on ‘Settings’ to log out.
  • Click on the ‘Forgot Password’ option.
  • Proceed by typing in your username/ phone number.
  • Instagram will message you either on your registered email id or phone number.
  • Log in to Instagram or change your password using that email.
