Twitter has been a source of breaking news, trending memes, friend updates, and live scores of various sports matches. However, with Elon Musk taking over Twitter, the micro-blogging platform might undergo various changes that would transform the way it now works. This includes an edit option for tweets as well as Twitter becoming paid. Now, if this series of changes annoy you, you might want to get rid of Twitter itself. Here’s how you can delete your Twitter account and deactivate it permanently.

FAQs

1. Does deactivating Twitter also delete my direct messages?

During the 30-day deactivation period, your direct messages won’t be deleted. When the deactivation period ends and your account is deleted, direct messages you’ve sent will also be deleted.

2. I deactivated my account, but why does it keep getting reactivated?

If you authorized any third-party apps to access your account, you may be indirectly logging on from another app. Logging on reactivates the account, so make sure to revoke third-party app access to your account.

3. What if one doesn’t have his/her password when they try to deactivate?

If one doesn’t have a password or is receiving a message that it’s wrong, reset your password.
