Google Pixel series smartphones have always been in the news for their camera and photography features. The latest Google Pixel 6 Series also has a slew of exciting goodies, arguably the coolest one being Magic Eraser. This employs computational wizardry to easily remove unwanted items from your images. This is for sure a handy tool for photographers, and exciting for all users in general. Now though Magic Eraser was released as an exclusive feature for the Pixel 6 series, there’s a hack to get it working on any Android smartphone that’s running on Android 12. If you are, then you can also have access to this new Pixel feature with the downloadable APK file given below.

Magic Eraser uses Machine Learning to suggest distractions in a clicked photo, which the user might want to get rid of. It instantly recognizes the subject and highlights any distracting elements. It also allows users to manually remove distractions from photos they took recently or a few years ago.

Note: Magic Eraser is easy to install for now, but it might change in the future. There are chances that Google Photos update in the future might remove this functionality or Google itself might disable it on the server-side.

As the article says at the end, days after I installed this on a pixel 3xl, they had an update for “improved photo management” which took the magic eraser away, if you still have it working, I’d wait to update Google photos until there is another patch, if you try to reinstall the APK it says you have an updated version already installed.
