The Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp has released a new feature that lets users share voice notes as their status. For those catching up, WhatsApp status updates are like Instagram stories. They are pictures or videos that are available on one’s profile for 24 hours.
Previously, users could add 30-second-long voice recordings as their WhatsApp status. However, the new update increases the limit to a minute. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is rolling out the feature to all users (on Android and iOS). To access it, consider updating WhatsApp on your phone to the latest version via the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

How To Put One Minute Long Voice Note As Your WhatsApp Status?
- If you haven’t already done so, install the latest version of WhatsApp on your Android or iOS phone.
- Open WhatsApp and go to the Updates tab. The Updates tab is to the right of the Chats tab (in the navigation bar at the bottom) for Android users. For iOS users, the Updates section is to the extreme left of the navigation bar at the bottom.
- Tap on the Pencil icon toward the bottom right corner of the screen (for Android users) and toward the top right corner (for iOS users).
- On the Status screen, tap the microphone icon at the bottom right corner to start recording your voice. WhatsApp will record your voice till you hold the microphone icon. While recording, you can swipe the icon to the left to discard the current voice note.

- Once done, let go of the microphone icon. Listen to the voice note by tapping the play button. At this step, you can delete the voice note by hitting the trash icon to the right.

- If everything seems fine, hit the send button (green arrow) toward the bottom right corner of the screen, and that’s it. The voice status should now be available to your WhatsApp contacts (excluding the ones you’ve hidden your status from).
