Hyundai has just given us a sneak peek at the upcoming India-bound Ioniq 5 facelift. Fresh spy shots showcase the electric SUV being tested on local roads. The heavily camouflaged test mule almost confirms that the car is in the final phases of testing before its official launch in the country, which might take place in the next couple of months.

What’s new on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift?
As seen in the spy shots, the Ioniq 5 facelift features new bumpers at the front and the back, for a sportier, more open look (inspired by the Ioniq 5 N). The automaker seems to have stretched the car by almost 20 mm, added a 50-mm-wide rear roof spoiler, and new aerodynamic alloy wheels.
The overall design language looks quite familiar, but the details look sharper and more planted on the road. Inside, we could get more physical buttons, a redesigned steering wheel, and a repositioned wireless charger. We could also get a cleaner dashboard and center console layout, with a more intuitive placement of the frequently used controls.
While the international version of Hyundai’s eSUV gets camera-based ORVMs, the Indian prototypes still feature the traditional side mirrors, indicating the automaker’s slightly more conservative approach for the market.
At what price could the Ioniq 5 facelift launch in India?
According to reports, Hyundai has claimed to equip the car with stiffer doors, stronger B-pillars, and better NVH tuning, all aimed at reducing vibrations and cabin noise, for a refined and seamless driving experience.
The current-generation Ioniq 5 is already on sale in the country for around Rs. 45 lakhs. However, the facelift could demand a modest premium, slotting it against popular rivals like the Kia EV6, Volvo EX30, BMW iX1 LWB, and the BYD Sealion 7.
Global specs point to a larger 84 kWh battery and better claimed range. However, India might initially skip the bigger battery pack and retain the current powertrain options. Moreover, working on a facelift for its most premium offering in India, which is an EV, signals that Hyundai is doubling down on EVs.
