Apple just released the first beta of iOS 18.3, but it isn’t as happening or exciting as one would have thought. There are a few minor changes in the update, but apart from that, there’s no major Apple Intelligence update or a non-AI-related feature that’s been added to iOS, except one.

Apple’s iOS 18.3 beta includes a dark-themed Camera Control option in Settings. Further, the operating system version includes hidden support for robot vacuums via HomeKit. Besides those upgrades, the first beta also includes fixes for occasional app crashes, performance, and battery life inconsistencies.

While the first and the last aren’t huge, adding support for robot vacuum cleaners signifies the company’s focus on smart home devices. As and when iOS 18.3 rolls out for everyone, iPhone users will be able to control robot vacuum cleaners right from the native Home app. Yes, the company doesn’t have a robot vacuum of its own at the moment, but that might change in the future.

iOS 18.3 Release Timeline (Expected)

Usually, Apple releases the third batch of improvements and upgrades for iOS versions in January. Hence, iPhone users should expect iOS 18.3 to launch in January 2025, probably toward the end of the month. However, if something urgent comes up, like a security flaw that needs immediate fixing, Apple might push the update sooner.
